A smart charger can be scheduled to draw from the grid during a cheaper overnight window on a time-of-use tariff, on top of prioritising your own solar generation during the day. The two work together rather than being an either-or choice, which matters if you’re commuting into London and doing most of your charging overnight.

Do I need off-street parking?
Yes, for a standard wall-mounted charger you need a driveway or private parking space within cable reach of the unit. We confirm cable run and mounting position at survey.
Can I charge from solar panels I already have?
In many cases yes. A solar-aware charger can prioritise your own generation over grid power, though how much of your driving it covers depends on your panel size and when you’re usually charging.
What’s involved in the installation?
An electrician runs a dedicated circuit from your consumer unit to the charge point, usually completed within a day. We check your existing electrics can safely support the new circuit before quoting.
